The global sports landscape is constantly shifting, and most of what people see are headlines and highlights.

Agents often get a bad reputation, and unfortunately in some cases its warranted. There are many people operating transactionally, without a real understanding of the market or a genuine concern for the athletes. That makes it harder for those trying to do things the right way... but if it were easy, everyone would do it. And we love a challenge!

In an effort to pull back the curtain and shed light on people who do make a positive impact on athletes, I’m starting this monthly series. Each month, I’ll share insight into what our team has been building, some updates on our clients, important landscape news and insights, and other moments that made a difference during the month.

If you're new here, I am the Director of Basketball Strategy here at FreeGame Management. We sit at the intersection of sports, culture, and commerce, creating opportunities for athletes at every stage.

Our mission is simple: help you win before, during, and after your playing career.

Follow along as we continue to grow an athlete-first organization, by players, for players.

FreeGame Mgmt -- Looking Back at January!

The year started where it usually does for me, on the road, as we find ourselves deep in the college basketball season. In between recruiting and client visits, I made it back to Charlotte for one of the most meaningful weekends we’ve had at FreeGame so far, Beyond the Game Weekend (more shared below). This event was a powerful reminder that what we’re building goes far beyond wins, minutes, or stats.

As for the Basketball Division, here are a few highlights:

"Beyond the Game" Weekend:

This FreeGame event brought together our football and volleyball clients for an in person experience designed to take athlete representation to the next level. The weekend consisted of financial literacy education, interactive team building, and a dedicated brand and content production day to help athletes build credibility, strengthen their personal brands, and create momentum off the field.

The seminar day was highlighted by distinguished speakers, including former athletes and leaders from various industries, who shared real world insights on transitioning beyond sport and building long term success. Can't wait to get our basketball clients in town for the next one!
