Sports Business Secrets

Season 4 || Episode 509

Today’s guest is world renowned speaker, author and performance expert, Alan Stein, Jr.!

Alan is a former collegiate basketball player who has turned his passion for the game into a lifelong career. After graduating from Elon University, he co-founded his own high performance training service that focused on youth athletes. Since then, he has trained some of the most elite athletes on the planet, including Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, Kobe Bryant (and many others).

Alan now focuses his time helping individuals and organizations maximize their performance. He is a speaker, a coach, an author, a consultant, a husband and a father!

Today we talked about:

  • the journey he took to play collegiately

  • a quote from Jay Bilas that stuck with him

  • what “unseen hours” really means

  • which skills translate from sports to the real world

  • intrinsic competition vs extrinsic competition

  • his views on personal & professional social media

  • things that all leaders do extremely well

  • his “whiteboard memory” mental model

  • and much more
