#LinkedInSports Day 1️⃣1️⃣: How will virtual reality technologies shape emerging business areas?
The first thing that comes to mind for me is tapping into live game experiences.
The NBA started doing this last year. And yes, I agree it will continue to grow. But a few rhetorical questions for you to ponder here.... How will this affect current TV contracts? How many people will actually buy the Oculus (currently $399) and then pay an extra fee to watch in 3D?
With all new ideas + technology, I believe those who get creative will win long term.
Here are a few ideas that can be implemented into the sports scene:
--> college sports using VR to recruit (campus visits, locker room access, etc)
--> additional exposure + unique activation opportunities for brand partnerships
--> increased awareness for international and intercontinental sports
--> unique access opportunities (imagine being in the locker room for halftime?)
